在未来世纪（Future Century，F.C.）由于地球严重被污染，人类移往宇宙殖民星，建立了新中国、新日本、新美国等殖民星国。各国在地球虽然还存有领土，但已受到严重的忽视。为了避免战争，各国决定以一场高达擂台赛(Gundam Fight，高达武斗)来决定各殖民星国对地球的统治权。比赛每四年一度，以地球为擂台，每个国家（殖民星）派出一位代表参赛，一对一以高达对战，直至只有一名胜利者。胜利者所属国家可擭得各殖民星国及地球管理权四年，直至另一个国家在下一次高达对决获胜。而活在地球上的居民，便要忍受在各国代表在对战时所造成的破坏。故事发生在未来世纪六十年开始，当时正开始第十三届高达擂台赛。故事的主角，来自新日本的code error!，为了追寻盗去以DG细胞三大理论，自我增殖、自我再生、自我进化设计出来的code error!(Devil Gundam)的兄长，决定参加这一次的高达对决，故事就此展开。
